ANNOUNCEMENT

Olympiacos BC announces its agreement with Giorgos Bartzokas. The experienced coach has signed a contract for two and a half years to work with our team.

Τhe Who is Who

Giorgos Bartzokas was born on June 11, 1965 in Athens and made history with Olympiacos in 2013, when he became the first Greek coach to win the Euroleague.

He had been a player for Amaroussio, however, serious injuries forced him to retire from action at the age of only 22 and turn to coaching. He began with local League teams (Pefki, Kifissia, Vrilissia), while in 2003 he joined the technical staff of Amaroussio, under Panagiotis Giannakis. He held the same position until 2006.

His next stop was Olympia Larissa, where he remained in the capacity of head coach until 2009. In the 2009-10 season he returned to Maroussi as a head coach. He sat in the Panionios' bench during the following two seasons (2010-2012), while in the summer of 2012 he succeeded Dusan Ivkovic in the Olympiacos' bench.

He made hirtory with the Piraeus team, leading Olympiacos to the Back2Back win of the Euroleague in 2013 at the London Final Four and a few months later winning the Intercontinental Cup.

He moved to Russia for Lokomotiv Kuban of Krasnodar in the 2015-16 season, with which he made the Euroleague Final Four. Next year, he took over coaching Barcelona (2016-2017), while he returned to Russia, but this time for Khimki, in the summer of 2017.
