In June 2025, we all witnessed the outrageous behavior of D. Giannakopoulos during his visit to the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) on the occasion of the second game of the Greek League Playoff Finals.
His hasty removal from the arena was followed by the filing of seemingly unfounded complaints, with the perpetrators portraying themselves as victims. One such complaint was filed by his daughter, Despina Giannakopoulou, against Olympiacos BC Vice President Georgios Skindilias. She even demanded that the expedited in-flagrante procedure be followed, leading to his arrest and transfer to a police station while he was still recovering from surgery.
At the time, we issued a statement in which we said: “Olympiacos BC and its Presidents neither threaten children with sexual acts nor put them up to filing false complaints.” Justice was not long in coming. Despina Giannakopoulou’s complaint was deemed unfounded and definitively dismissed. As for D. Giannakopoulos’s actions, these have been referred to the competent court for adjudication.
While others live their lives on social media, chasing likes and followers, Olympiacos BC and its management prefer to turn to the impartial Greek judicial system and await its ruling.
