One more action of inclusion in the framework of the One Team program

A unique experience of sport, cooperation, and social connection was shared by the PLOES team of EPSYME together with the Walking Basketball 60+ team, as part of the activities of the One Team program of Olympiacos BC, implemented under the auspices of EuroLeague Basketball.

On Tuesday, March 10, at the P. Nikolaidis gym in Drapetsona, through joint training and friendly on-court activities, participants had the opportunity to meet each other, collaborate, and experience the values of inclusion, solidarity, and acceptance.

At the heart of the activity was inclusion in action, as the court was transformed into a shared space where age and disability were not obstacles, but rather an opportunity for cooperation and meaningful interaction. The enjoyable time shared by all members of the team that was formed is also reflected in the photos, where all participants appear to be enjoying the game.

At the same time, strong elements of mutual respect and empathy were highlighted, with participants working on adaptability and communication, recognizing the value of the “other” in every phase of the game.

The activity also contributed to the physical and psychological empowerment of all participants, strengthening physical activity, self-confidence, and social interaction; elements that play a crucial role in addressing social isolation.

With the slogan “we are all one team,” participants worked on team spirit and acceptance, adjusting their pace to their fellow players and creating an impressive example of cooperation on the court.

It is worth noting that both PLOES and Walking Basketball have appeared this year on the court of the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) during EuroLeague and Greek League games, receiving enthusiastic applause from the Olympiacos fans for their effort. This time, however, it was the moment for collaboration.

Who are Walking Basketball 60+

Walking Basketball 60+ is an innovative approach to promoting healthy and active aging, using basketball as a tool for exercise, rehabilitation, and psychosocial empowerment.

It is based on the #WalkingBasketball methodology, an adapted form of basketball that is being implemented for the first time in Greece and focuses on gentle and safe physical activity, allowing the participation of older adults as well as people with mobility limitations.

The initiative was designed and is implemented by the non-profit organization COMM’ON, with the support of the Hellenic Basketball Coaches Association and the Municipality of Keratsini–Drapetsona.

The first pilot cycle is being implemented in Keratsini, with the participation of individuals aged 60 to 85 from nine KAPI (Open Care Centers for the Elderly) structures of the municipality, from October 2025 to May 2026.

The program is carried out with the support of the TIMΑ Charitable Foundation, within the framework of the “Simeia Stirixis” (Support Points) program, which is co-funded by ten charitable organizations.
