A win over Kolossos with Montero scoring 30

Olympiacos did what was required, defeating Kolossos Rhodes 99–83 behind closed doors at the Sunel Arena to make it two wins in as many games in the Greek Basketball League (GBL).

Jean Montero delivered his most productive performance in an Olympiacos jersey, scoring 30 points, including 6 threes, to lead his team to victory. Olympiacos prevailed despite Kolossos’ outstanding shooting from beyond the arc, with the visitors finishing at 50% (18/36). Tyler Dorsey was rested, while Tyson Ward and the suspended Tyrique Jones were left out of the foreign-player rotation.

Giorgos Bartzokas started the game with Codi Miller-McIntyre, Omiros Netzipoglou, Evan Fournier, Sasha Vezenkov and Nikola Milutinov. Olympiacos made an immediate impact, converting their first 3 three-point attempts to take a 9–3 lead. Vezenkov had scored 8 points midway of the opening quarter, while Netzipoglou added another 7, two minutes later. However, Olympiacos struggled defensively on the perimeter, allowing Kolossos to score 22 points in the quarter and cut the deficit to five.

In the second quarter, Kolossos continued to find rhythm from long range, but Montero’s outstanding offensive display helped Olympiacos lay the foundations for victory. The Dominican guard scored 12 points during that time, shooting brilliantly from the perimeter. Olympiacos also delivered 6 points with Papas and 4 with Hall to take a 54–41 lead into halftime, despite Kolossos shooting an impressive 9/19 from three-point range.

Miller-McIntyre came out firing at the start of the second half, dishing out several spectacular assists, while Fournier, Vezenkov and Netzipoglou continued to score for Olympiacos. Milutinov had amassed 10 rebounds in just 16 minutes of action, as Olympiacos maintained a lead of more than 10 points through 27', despite Kolossos’ remarkable 12/24 shooting from beyond the arc. The quarter ended with Olympiacos leading 77–67, following another 3-pointer from Montero.

Kolossos continued to hit shots from deep in the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to just 6 points (85–79) with four minutes remaining. By that stage, the visitors had made 17 of their 33 three-point attempts, while Olympiacos had also committed several turnovers on offense.

However, the European champions raised their level when it mattered most and ultimately secured a 99–83 victory. Montero proved unstoppable against the opposing defense, finishing with a game-high 30 points to headline Olympiacos’ second consecutive win in the GBL.

The quarters: 27–22, 54–41, 77–67, 99–83.
