Kestutis Kemzura joins the technical staff of Olympiacos

Olympiacos BC announces the beginning of its cooperation with Kestutis Kemzura, in the capacity of the direct associate of our team’s coach, David Blatt.

Τhe Who is Who

Kestutis Kemzura was born April 20, 1970 in Kaunas and was a player for Atletas Kaunas, Silute, Lietucos Rytas Vilnius, Kalnapilis Panevezys, BC Sema and Swans Gmunden as well as of the National Selection of Lithuania.

He began his coaching career as an assistant coach for Besiktas. The next season (2002-03) found him in the same position, but this team in the bench of Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius, where he was given the position of the head coach in the 2003-04 season.
He moved to St. Peterburg in 2004 and sat in the bench of Dynamo Saint Petersburg as an assistant coach, while he served Benetton Treviso from the same position from 2005 to 2007.

His next stop was Russia. From 2007 to 2009 he was the head coach of Khimki. He moved to the bench of Lokomotiv Kuban in the 2009-10 season, while he coached Asseko Prokom Gnydia in the 2012-13 season and CEZ Nymburk from 2013 to 2015. He was an assistant coach in Darussafaka from 2016 to 2018.

A big chapter in Kestutis Kemzura’s career is that of the National team of Lithuania. He was the assistant coach from 2005 to 2009, while he became the head coach in 2010 leading the team to win the bronze medal in the World Championship. Under his direction, the “Lietuvos” had ranked 5th in the 2011 Eurobasket and 8th in the 2012 Olympic Games, after which he retired from the team.

He was the head coach of the National team of Latvia in 2009, with which he ranked 13th in the Eurobasket of the same year, while he’s been the head coach of the National Austrian Selection since 2016.
