In the post game conference following the loss to Valencia for the 33rd EuroLeague round, Giorgos Bartzokas commented the following:
«We finished the game without winning it and of course this is something upsetting for us and the effort we put in. Valencia is an excellent team and persists contesting its games up to very end. We felt we should be doing some things a bit different so as to improve on our game earlier on, but at the end, it all came up to one decision. The foul called against us and the last play we weren't able to finish. I have to congratulate Valencia; every EuroLeague game is a lesson for us. We lost in the final possession and we must somehow be much better in situations like those, more focused, more consistent, more efficient and playing on our strong points instead on our weaknesses».
Asked to elaborate, coach Bartzoaks explained: «For instance, we miss a shot, we try to go for the offensive rebound and Tyrique Jones falls down and we got to receive a bucket by Key in the fast break in a five on four situation. Even if we miss a shot, we still have to defend 5 on 5. That's only one example. There are many more. Even fouls. I don't know if we did foul on Montero, it's not my job to say either way, but we allowed for two free throws with 2.9'' on the clock. We must make good on our defensive plays, make our free throws, because we lost many in the second half. We started the second half allowing Valencia to return to the game in no time, despite leading by 8. We missed lay-ups, we were hasty and many other things we need to analyze when we watch the video of the game».
