Vezenkov: "I'll be working hard, with faith and devotion"

"Work" is Sasa Vezenkov's favorite word, not only on a theoretical but also on a practical scale. Proof enough is the fact that he's in the States right now working on his game, and practically refusing to take a vacation!

"I've been coming to Orlando for about a month each year. It's actually the third summer I'm in the States aiming to improve my game", he said talking to Olympiacosbc.gr

The 23 year old forward is determined to work even harder wearing the 'reds' jersey. "I'm very happy for joining Olympiacos. I'm excited to be a member of such a great team, with a coach like coach Blatt and established players. I'm more than ready! I'll be working hard, with faith and devotion and I'll do anything I can to offer the best of my abilities to the team".

As soon as his co-operation with Barcelona ended, there were a lot of teams eager to sign him. Asked on why he chose to come to Piraeus, he replied: "When such a big team and that kind of a coach want you, it only takes minutes to think about the answer to their offer. However, I don't want to be saying much… It's not the time to be talking but rather to be working… I have talked with coach Blatt and he was very clear about his expectations from me. The only thing I can say is that I'll be giving all I got so that Olympiacos succeeds in its goals. Let's not forget that they are a team 'condemned' to have a leading role and to be going after titles. However, to win them, you need hard team work on a daily basis. That's exactly what we'll be doing…"

He was the top scorer and the MVP of the Greek League during the 2014-15 season and had 'cashed' his exquisite season with a multi-year contract with Barcelona. Things with the blaugrana did not go as he had hoped they would, but he has no regrets, neither has he felt that he needs to re-launch anything. "I don't have anything to answer to anyone, not even to myself. I'm not hiding that I spent three difficult years with Barcelona, however, I was taught a lot and now I'm more ready in both the psychological as well as the playing part of the game… It was a great experience. From now on there is a new chapter for me, Olympiacos. I'll by humble and I'll do my best to help my team succeed".

Maybe a lot of people remember Giorgos Printezis … teasing Sasa Vezenkov on social media on his resemblance with a player of a TV game (Rising Star), which means that he's not unfamiliar to the 'reds' environment. "Indeed, I had kept contact with most of them even before I got signed… I talked earlier about how easy it was for me to decide given the Olympiacos history and the presence of David Blatt, however, my new team mates are all the more reason to be excited about. It's a real honor to be team mates with a legend, Vassilis Spanoulis and established players like Giorgos Printezis and Kostas Papanikolaou. They are players that have won it all! I'm very happy because I have a lot to learn from them".

Finally, when he was asked to determine his personal goals as well as those of the team, he pointed out: "Personal always trail team. My goal on a personal level is to becoming better every day under the guidance of my coaches and team mates. And then, through my improving, to be helping Olympiacos to succeed in his goals".
