MANTZARIS: «I wish to thank the Presidents and the fans»
Only hours following his agreement with Olympiacos so as to remain a ‘red’ wearing no. 17 on the back of his shirt through 2017, Vangelis Mantzaris spoke to www.olympiacosbc.gr for this development.
“I’m very happy. This development covers for my wishes as well as for the team’s. It seems that we both wanted this to happen, so it was hard for it to fail”, the international guard commented and added: “I would like to thank the Presidents for once again proving how much they believe in me, just like they have been doing since the first moment I joined Olympiacos. I would also like to thank the fans because during this difficult summer, when a lot was rumored, they stood by me. I’ll do everything I can to make them proud”.
As for his new three year contract with Olympiacos, he said: “I wish that this past season was a bad parenthesis for the team and that there is no other season with no titles won. I hope we celebrate as many titles as possible. We are among the few teams in Europe, if not the only one, that has a full roster before even August. There are four players in each position and our roster is complete. What matters now is to find chemistry and help the new guys adjust the fastest possible”.
