PAPAPETROU: Olympiacos trusts young players
Ioannis Papapetrou is now officially an Olympiacos’ player and only moments following the signing of his five year contract, the 19 year old forward made his first statements for www.olympiacosbc.gr
“Everything happened very fast. I think this was the best move not only for my career but also for my life and that’s why it happened”, Papapetrou commented and added: “It’s a great honor for me to belong to the roster of such a great team like Olympiacos. A team that aims to titles and this is certainly intriguing for an athlete. I believe that this is the rightest step for my career, since Olympiacos has proved to trust in young players and give them a chance to play. This was the extra motivation for me to drop my studies and the States”.
Papapetrou knows that he will have to work hard being with Olympiacos: “The level is very high and I’m aware of that. I feel ready to cover for the team’s expectations. Hard work starts from today and I’m going to prepare the best I can to make it for those who put their faith in me”.
The top scorer of the Young Men’s National team in the recent Eurobasket also spoke about the captain of Olympiacos: “When I was younger, Spanoulis was one of the players I was looking up to and was eager to be like him. I’m not the one to speak about him. Spanoulis presence is proof enough of Olympiacos’ strength and the team’s aspirations for the new season”.
