Andreas Gkatzoulis

Trainer

Andreas has been the Strength & Conditioning and Rehabilitation coach at Olympiacos since 2008, his 13-year tenure in the “Reds” makes him one of the most experienced trainers in Euroleague. With Olympiacos he has celebrated 2 Euroleague Trophies (back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013) and participated in 5 Final Four Final Games, 6 Final Fours (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017). In the same period of time Olympiacos won 3 Greek League titles, 3 Greek Cups and the Intercontinental Cup in 2014.

He started working as a Strength & Conditioning and Rehabilitation coach in Larissa back in 1994. After a five-year tenure in Larissa he then moved to Maroussi, where he worked for 9 years (until 2008). It was the prime time of Athenian club, winning the Saporta Cup in 2001 and played in the FIBA Eurocup Final in 2004, the Greek League Finals (2004) and the Greek Cup Final (2002, 2005). There he worked with coach, Panagiotis Giannakis, which he followed to Olympiacos and the Chinese National Team as a Strength & Conditioning advisor.

Larissa, Maroussi and Olympiacos all have one common name: that of Vassilis Spanoulis. The top scorer in Euroleague history has been Andrea’s protege  since a very young age. Besides him Andreas has also worked with the greatest Greek players and many international talents. The latest is Aleksey Pukosevski, who is now playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He worked with him on a daily basis from 2015 since the day he was drafted (No17).

Before his basketball coaching career Andreas was a middle distance runner and a track & field coach.
