Aiming to the playoffs

Khimki’s goal is a spot in the playoffs. The Russian team made an impressive start in the season, however, a streak of negative results (they lost 4 back to back games before beating Alba Berlin in the previous game 104-87) forced the team to lose valuable ground.

Τhe brightest star: Αlexey Shved! The Russian guard is Khinki’s leader and the player on who they rely their offensive game. He has won one Euroleague (2008) with CSKA, four Russian Championships 2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11 and 2011-12 again with the Army’s team and two bronze medals with National team of Russia (Eurobasket 2011, Olympic Games 2012).

I know you from someplace: Janis Timma! The Latvian forward began the 2018-19 season with Olympiacos, however, he could not adjust and moved to Khimki mid-season.

Did you know that:

  • Οlympiacos’ coach, Kestutis Kemzura has sat in the team’s bench (2017, 2018).
  • The current coach of the Russian team, Rimas Kurtinaitis, is from Kaunas Lithuania, just like Kestutis Kemzura is. The two of them had been team mates when with Rytas Vilnius, during the 1998-99 season!
