Bartzokas: «The game does not stand analyzing»

Giorgos Bartzokas preferred to talk about the memoriam in honor of Giannis Ioannidis before the start of the game.

“I have the feeling that the most important thing happening in this game, was what happened before the jump ball. This mini event to honor the memory of Giannis Ioannidis in the presence of his daughter. Once again, I would like to extend my sincerest condolences on behalf of the whole team to his wife and daughter”.

He went on say that: “The game does not stand to be analyzed. There aren’t many things you can say about it. My feeling is that the game of basketball was absent. The game was very nervous. We had a situation with a very physical game that was beyond any logic. A different kind of basketball to what we play with the Euroleague or other Basket League games was played tonight. As a result, two players got injured, and they were added to the absences we have had before the game. So, some of our players, following the Friday overtime as well, were just exhausted. But, that’s the situation. We won the first game. It’s never easy to win here. Congrats to Aris, I wish them good luck in the season”.

Asked about the officiating, he replied: “I’m not here to judge the refs. There are others to do that. However, there should be some converging guidelines in terms of how the Euroleague, FIBA and Greek League refs officiate. Not all can be different”.
