Bartzokas: «What counts is the win»

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, was not satisfied by his team’s performance, however, he stressed that what counts right now is the win…

“The game was nervous, especially on our part. We have had many opportunities to open up the difference, after doing it in the beginning. In the second quarter though, we made too many mistakes and I’m not only talking about 7 or 8 missed lay-ups, but also about our choices, when we were finding open shots and we were passing the ball instead. We made mistakes and allowed Panathinaikos to strike in the transition. Nevertheless, with the exception of when Panathinaikos momentarily got ahead by one point, we were leading throughout. We simply had to manage the situations better and not commit so many mistakes. My opinion is that it had to do with the anxiety caused by the fact that we were thought to be the big favorite to win. What counts though is the win itself. We got the fist game and we have to prepare for the second one. I believe we are going to play better. I don’t think we are going to make so many mistakes again. Congrats to Panathinaikos”.
