Bartzokas: «The players on the floor got to speak»

The excellent performance by Olympiacos did not give much to Giorgos Bartzokas to talk about in terms of the win over Bayern.

“I obviously don’t have a lot to say about tonight’s game, our players got to speak during the game. They showed desire to play and win. We were very good offensively in the first half, we played a straight forward game and passed the ball efficiently. We actually were really good in offense throughout the game, but defence wise, we were good for three quarters. We strayed a bit from our usual approach in the 3rd quarter and Bayern scored 30 points and showed their ability to get score from all their five players on the floor. It was a big win. Congratulations to our players and our fans. We are now focusing on the game against Promitheas”.

On his part, Bayern’s coach, Andrea Trincchieri, pointed out: “I would sincerely like to congratulate Giorgos Bartzokas and Olympiacos for this game and the quality of basketball they’ve been playing on both ends of the floor. Tonight, it was a very tough exercise for my players, especially missing four from our five starters. We were trying to find a way to play but we weren’t able to do so. We only had one good quarter, the third one. It was very hard to compete. On one hand, you have a very high level team that plays with tremendous chemistry and the ball moves in an amazing fashion. They scored 19 threes. You cannot always make threes. Even if you are open, it’s not easy to make so many. We weren’t good enough to compete against the best team in the Euroleague right now”.
