Canaan: "Looking forward for this journey" (vid)
Isaiah Canaan, the American guard for Olympiacos, spoke to OlympiacosBC TV about his goals wearing the ‘reds’ jersey, while he did not omit sending his message to our team’s fans!
His statements:
“Hello Olympiacos fans! I’m Isaiah Canaan.
I’m really looking forward to the opportunity that’s been given to me. I’m looking forward to the trip I’m taking with you. It’s going to be a great season and I’m truly can’t wait for it to begin.
One of my first goals coming here is to win the Euroleague. I have watched your course last season and especially after playing against you for the first time early in the season as a player for Unics. You were a very together team. I could tell you guys were all together, everybody wanted to play as a team, everybody wanted to play for one another. The coach had done a great job building the team. I’m looking forward to becoming a piece of all of that.
You were really successful. The loss at the semifinal was sad. You were only a game away from winning the Euroleague. I can’t wait to help you get there. I have spoken with the coach. He’s expecting me to come and be myself. Bring the passion with which I love to play on the floor, bring the fire and the leadership. Because he’s going to be needing us all to achieve our big goal. I’ll be pushing my team mates every day and I hope they are going to be pushing me as well. As much push I give them, they should be pushing me the same too.
I really look forward to building my relationship with my coaches, my team mates within the season. Some of the elements I think I can bring to the game is my passion, how much basketball means to me. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to win. I’ll be doing whatever my coach asks from me. I can bring my game and add some of its elements to the team’s game. I want to bring in the flame and the passion that are my distinctive marks.
My goal for the season is to win at the highest level and everything else will follow. I never worry about individual accomplishments. The only thing I care about is the team and its success. The only thing I want is to win at the highest level, win championships. That’s the ultimate goal for me.
From the highlights of playing against you… I remember the first time I played against Olympiacos, it was an incredible game. I think it had gone to overtime. It had been a really tough game up to the last moment. I think that the team was that made us want this, playing with the same passion and the same fire up until the end of the season. After the game against Olympiacos, I knew that that team was a champion team. I’m truly blessed and honored to be a part of it this season.
I’m looking forward to meeting with the fans and experiencing the battles between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos. I have heard many important stories for these games. I can’t wait to be with the fans in our amazing arena. I hope my first game is really interesting and a welcoming game. I’m looking forward to that, I’m looking forward to coming to Greece, learn the culture, build my relationship with the organization, my team mates and the fans.
Guys, bring your energy, I can’t wait to feed off from it and together get out there and compete at the highest level. Whatever you bring, I’ll try to give back to you! I want to thank you! I thank you all for welcoming me into this great organization, Olympiacos. I really can’t wait to come there and give everything I can in every game. I’ll be fighting to the end no matter what.
