Walkup: «With energy and toughness»
Olympiacos left today (19/01) for Tel Aviv, where tomorrow (20/01, 20:05 CET), will be playing against Maccabi for the 22nd round of the Euroleague.
“The break can no longer be an excuse. Anyway, it’s something everyone has had to cop with”, Thomas Walkup stressed following a relating question. “It’s not something we can ‘lean on’ and say that we lost due to that or anything else for that matter. That’s over. We have had a bad game on the road and now we need to return to the right path and win the game”.
Talking about the ‘keys’ to the game, the American guard said: “They have a lot of energy, they play tough defense at home, and that’s something we need to match. When we do that, then we can talk about tactics and everything else. Playing with the same energy and strength in the defense is going to be the key to winning. Hard defense is the start. If we start thinking about the mismatches or anything else, it will amount to nothing if we don’t take the ball where it should go and we don’t play solid defense. That’s always the first thing and everything else follows…”
