Printezis: «Our fans give us positive energy»

Olympiacos wants to remain undefeated in his home court against Fenerbahce (28/10, 20.00 CET), a feat that according to captain Giorgos Printezis is also due to the powerful presence of the ‘reds’ fans.

“Up until now our fans and our home court have helped us very much. We have made a good start. Tomorrow we play the fourth game in six days. Fenerbahce is a very good team, with lots of talent. They are coming from a loss at the last second so they are definitely going to be determined. We need to leave fatigue behind, play a good game and limit the strong facets of our opponent, fast-break being among them”, the veteran forward commented.

Asked if the presence of Pierria Henry and Nando De Colo is going to be the key to the game, he replied: “They are a very talented team with a deep roster. I’m not going to focus on any individual player. I’m only going to say that we need to play as a team on both ends of the court. This is the most important factor so that you are able to beat teams like Fener”.

About what changed this year compared to last season and now that the SEF is once again one of the toughest home courts, he commented: “First of all, the fans are now by our side and give us positive energy. I mean that. Last season it became tiresome for all, players, coaches, playing in front of empty seats. Yesterday it was a game we needed to win. We had given indications in the past that we weren’t being serious. I don’t think that something has changed mentally wise, we are simply a better team, we have better chemistry and we can win these games easier”.

Finally, about the fact that against Alba he got to crush the 3,500 point barrier with the Euroleague, something that only another three players have achieved – Vassilis Spanoulis, Juan Carlos Navarro and Nando De Colo – he said: “It makes no difference to me. It’s good that I have achieved whatever it is that I have achieved with my team. That’s it”.
