Bartzokas: «We must play one of our best games»

Olympiacos will be playing against CSKA in Moscow tomorrow (22/10, 19:00 CET) and according to Giorgos Bartzokas, the only way to go after the victory is to play one of its best games.

“I believe it’s going to be a difficult game. We are going to have to execute our plan well and play hard because that’s how CSKA plays. They have a lot of talent in all the positions, facilitation and good execution, despite the two people missing from their front line. Also, I don’t know if Grigonis is playing. They are a team that has two or three talented players in every position, so it’s going to take very good team work so that we can challenge the outcome”.

Asked whether the absence of the two big players of the Army’s team are a reason for relaxation for the ‘reds’, he made clear that: “How can we relax? Can we say that since Shengelia and Milutinov are not playing, we are definitely going to win? It can never be that way! I think that it’s very important for everyone to understand that in Europe, it’s teams that win and teams that lose games. The absence of one or two players in such deep and quality rosters all teams have built, makes any void hard to discern. Anyway, CSKA becomes a much tougher opponent with Voigtmann at ‘5’, since he can shoot from the perimeter. So the game now has different demands. In no case we can say that we can relax”.

Finally, on what his team needs to be doing to get the victory, he said: “We’ll try to do good on the things we do well up to now as a team and if possible, do them even better. It’s going to take one of our best games to go after the win”.

It was the end of the '30s when the Olympiacos Basketball team was founded with players form the "Ionidio" School. Great personalities of Greek basketball wore the 'red' shirt, coaches wrote history, victories came and Olympiacos played a leading role inside and outside the Greek borders.
