Giorgos Bartzokas made a mini report of the friendly games his team played on Italian ground and the conclusions he came to as an aftermath.

The Greek coach never mentioned the positive results of the games, but he rather focused on the things he and his associates had wanted to see at this time: “We participated in a tournament with four high level Euroleague teams (Siena, CSKA, Fenerbahce and Olympiacos) and another two good teams like Sassari and Olympia. We had the chance to measure our strength against strong opponents, the schedule was kind of heavy since we played three games in four days, but it’s suitable for that time of the season. What we us coaches do at this time is to get to know our players’ habits and their reactions and they get to know ours. These games have been nothing but good for us”.

Olympiacos’ coach commented about not using Spanoulis in the game against Siena: “Spanoulis is a very important player of the team, but also the rest of the players are important. We decided to let him rest in the game against Siena since he had already made an extra trip to Istanbul for the Euroleague promotional spot. However, this was also a chance to try and play without Vassilis. He needed to rest, because the season is going to be very difficult, it includes about 70 games and the team should be playing well at all times, despite absences”, Bartzokas commented and added: “I think that we coped well against Siena, while it was not only Spanoulis missing, it was Law as well. But nevertheless, the guys that were called to play proved to be worthy of playing for Olympiacos”.
