Jamon Lucas is back in Greece from Monday morning, only this time it’s for Olympiacos. The 26 year old American, who appeared at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport dressed in red and white, will pass a physical and is expected to go to Karpenisi and start working on the evening of the same day…

“It’s completely different playing for Maroussi, I have come to a bigger team that has a different mission. I will be also be having a different role, but the only thing that stays the same is the challenge to win every game with a team just like Olympiacos that only wants the championship”, Lucas commented just moments after landing in Greece and added: “It’s a huge challenge for me, I want to be among the best players in Europe and that’s why I have to play at the highest level in Europe, to face the best European players. I know enough of my team mates from last year’s All Star Game, but also from last season I played here and it’s like a dream come true”.

The ex Maroussi player confessed he had been dreaming about Piraeus: “I had heard some rumors about Olympiacos since last year and I had been hoping they would come true. My agent told me Olympiacos was interested in me midsummer. To be honest, I had always had in my mind to join Olympiacos at some point. This had been my goal”.

Last season, the first passer of the Greek League stole everyone’s hearts with his performances: “Last season has been very good for me, I had a great year with good team mates, a very good coach, and I wanted to come back. I played well last year against Olympiacos and I had wanted to become a part of this team and help her in any way I can. I had a great game against Barcelona, also against Partizan, we had some very good games as a team. I know what to do and I believe I can help in many ways. I don’t know about my new role yet, the coach is going to tell me what he wants from me. I will work hard, I will be waiting for my turn to come, whenever I’m asked to come in and do what it is I have to do”.

Lucas will be playing his first game with the Olympiacos shirt against his old team, but will also be having a good friend as a team mate: “No, I haven’t spoken with Pelekanos. He’s one of the good friends I made last year and I can’t wait to see his baby, he was 3 or 4 months old when I left. We haven’t spoken yet; I can’t wait to see him. I know Teodosic from the All Star Game, I know Spanoulis a little. I can’t wait to meet them again. I didn’t know we were going to play a friendly game, it’s going to be nice to see my old team mates”.

Lucas spoke about last season with Maroussi and wished: “The financial difficulties we had been having last season had created some minor problems within the team, but I’m certain that all the monies owed are going to be paid to my ex team mates”.

And last he sent a message to the Olympiacos fans: “I want them to know that I will be doing everything to help the team win the championship, I will give my best”.
