Mirza Begic arrived to Greece Sunday evening (21/7) and according to his statements he’s keen about winning the Euroleague with Olympiacos.

The Slovenian center came in order to pass the necessary physical and upon arriving at the airport he talked about:

Olympiacos’ offer: “I’m very happy and proud to be playing for Olympiacos, the European Champion. I’m only anxious to help the team. At this point of my career, this is the best place for me and I couldn’t have accepted a better offer”.

Vassilis Spanoulis: “He’s a great player and I hope to have a good co-operation with him both on and off courts”. Begic played along Rudy Fernandez in Real Madrid, he’s now going to be next to another European basketball star, Vassilis Spanoulis and when asked about the two players: “They are both great players but Spanoulis is a much better point-guard”.

Playing against Olympiacos for the London Final Four: “I was happy, really excited when we were leading by 17 points in the beginning. But then Spanoulis ‘killed’ us with his threes. He had been a catalyst in his team winning the Euroleague. I felt very bad at the end of the game”.

Whether his goal is to win the Euroleauge with Olympiacos: “That’s what I hope for, that’s why I came here, but we know it’s going to be very hard to make the three-peat, because all teams are going to want to beat us. They are going to give their best against us. I’m willing to do whatever my coach asks from me”.

The Olympiacos fans: “They were so noisy in London that got to us after a while. I had heard a lot about them before that, before we played against one another for the final and I know feel lucky to have them on my side and not against me”.
