Bertomeu: Olympiacos taught a great lesson (Video)
In the limelight of the Euroleague draw for next season, Jordi Bertomeu spoke exclusively to the Olympiacosbc.gr camera. The strong man of the Euroleague spoke about the “reds”, the election of the Angelopoulos brothers as top executives of the season and the changes made in the competition.
About the season past: “It was a red season because Olympiacos was the winning team in many areas and I think that what Olympiacos has done this season was just amazing. You have made an excellent job both on and off the court and the team deserved every trophy won this year”.
About Messrs. Angelopoulos elected as executives of the year: “The reason Messrs. Angelopoulos were elected as executives of the year is the because the way Olympiacos worked this season is a lesson for everyone that budgets are not always enough to win you titles. Sometimes determination to make a strategic decision, to work hard, to believe in what you do, is a great lesson taught by Olympiacos to the rest Euroleague teams”.
About the changes in the Euroleague: “We always try to improve the League with the co-operation of the teams and I think that the most important changes for the new season are the increase of the number of games in the TOP-16. This allows the best teams to play more games against one another. This is a step forward for our fans. Also, moving games on Fridays is also a big decision for us because it’s going to be easier for families to come and watch games with their children since they are not going to have to go to school next morning. It’s interesting to watch the reaction of the fans, but we are certain that both decisions are going to be very successful ones”.
