Olympiacos BC in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in the framework of the Ministry's Social School program alongside with the Social Responsibility program of Olympiacos BC, organizes a series of events on Sunday, November 23, 2014 during the game against PAOK (12.30 local) in order to bring attention to the problem of child obesity.

More specifically, a large percentage of our country's children are not subscribing by the traditional Mediterranean diet, a nutrition model adopted by the Greeks for centuries, which provides a shield against numerous chronic diseases. At the same time, the opportunities available to children for physical activity are constantly diminishing since the majority of kids devote too much time in sedentary activities, like watching TV or being occupied with PCs and digital platforms.

This results in the inflation of children obesity percentages during the last decades in our countries, whereas 3 to 10 kids nowadays are either overweight or obese, a fact that puts Greece in the top rankings spots globally in regard to the matter. Modern day children obesity is an enemy to our kids health, since it substantially increases the possibility of diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular problems, all the more in much younger ages than they usually appear.

Kids from Elementary Schools in Athens are going to be the guests of Sunday's game, while there are going to be a series of actions such as:

•    Dispensing of pamphlets to inform kids and parents on the issue.
•    Videos informing on the issue will be on display.
•    A specially designated area will be set at the stadiums GATE 2 where parents will be able to visit the scientific team of the Charokopio/LIVE WELL Program to evaluate their kids and receive advice on how to properly address the problem.
•    The Olympiacos players are going to be wearing relevant t-shirts during warm up, while our captain Vassilis Spanoulis will be addressing a message.

At the same time, lookalikes of our players in natural size will be at GATE 2 and "Thryleon" will be at the same spot before the beginning of the game to get photographed with our team's young fans. Also, various contests will be taking place which our young friends can participate and win unique commemorative gifts!

Come to the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Sunday to watch your favorite team and score a 3-pointer for Health!
