Following a year of preparations and with the support of Turkish Airlines but also of the top teams in Europe, Euroleague announces today the commencement of the program using basketball as a means of improving the lives of our fellow humans.

The program is supported by eight teams, that are also the founding members: Alba Berlin, Anadolou Efes, CSKA Moscow, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olimpia Milan, Olympiacos, Real Madrid and Unicaja Malaga. The goal is within the next couple of years to have all the 24 teams participating and showing their community persona to the local societies implementing an innovative method.

“The OneTeam project is going to unite the passion of our fans and the teams are going to develop relationships and ties outside the court with the local communities” is what Mr. Bertomeu has declated. “It’s a very reliable combination of the social interaction and awareness projects that will bring teams closer to their communities. It’s especially the message of all that we stand for but also of the values and basketball spirit”.

“Two years ago we came to an agreement for the Euroleague sponsorship, believing that this competition is able to promote values such as team spirit, empowerment and leadership while at the same time it will prove useful to the society” the Executive Director of Turkish Airlines Mr. Temel Kotil stated and went on “Today, by supporting the Oneteam project, we once again feel that this deal is always growing on our original plan. Euroleague and Turkish Airlines have jointly committed in improving the lives of our fellow humans having the same values as their guide. With the help of the teams, Euroleague and Turkish Airlines will work together to achieve just that”.
Each team has chosen to get involved with a social group, not just to improve their members’ basketball skills but also to promote values of life. For more info, you can visit www.one1team.org

Regarding to the participation of Olympiacos in the said Euroleague project, the Commercial Director of the Club, Mr. Nikos Lepeniotis stressed: “Olympiacos BC is very proud to join in the Euroleague OneTeam project. In the last years, through the Social Awareness program we have taken some very important social initiative. Now, through this project of the Euroleague, we are given the opportunity to further develop it in new areas. Our collaboration with the Special School for the Deaf in Argyroupolis for this first phase will promote a social group that can actively participate in all the social activities, but has not gotten the proper attention and support up to now”.
