Bartzokas: «The win is what counts»

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, would have wanted to see his players play with more consistency during the game against Peristeri, but he admitted, that at this point, what counts is the win.

"Congratulations to our team for the win. I believe that we should have been more stable in regards to our performance and play at a better level throughout the game. Each time we were building a 15–17-point lead, we would relax, were hasty with our execution, we were leaving our style of playing. Peristeri is a good team, they press the ball a lot for forty minutes and having guards that can score, were able to follow up close. But at the end, what counts is the win, especially at this point in the season. Some players have been returning from injury and the way to get in shape is to play games and find rhythm through them. Under that prism, we are happy with the game. Peristeri was coming from back-to-back wins. You never win before you even play, so the win is important. Now, we have to prepare for the game on Thursday".

On his part, the coach of Peristeri, Vassilis Spanoulis, pointed out the following: "Congratulations to Olympiacos for the win. However, I must also congratulate my team, because we played an excellent game for quite long periods within it, especially given the difficulty of the match up. When you play against Olympiacos in their home, it's difficult. The guys responded to what we asked from them. We have had many good moments in the game, but also some bad periods that we have to improve. This is a new team and it needs to always get better. In sports, just as in life, at the end of the day, you get what you deserve. We want to continue working, keep the good elements, improve some parts of our game and move on the next very important games we have to play".
