Mitrou-Long: «I came to help»

Naz Mitrou-Long arrived for Olympiacos in Greece on Wednesday (22/11).

"I want to be myself", the new signing for the 'red & whites' said upon his arrival. "This team is not one that has to re-arrange things. They've been together for quite a while. They have leadership, consistency and strong organizational foundation. I came here to be myself and contribute as much as I can. I want to fit in both the defensive and offensive game of the team, that's the most important aspect".

Asked whether he's getting a Greek passport, he replied: "It's something we've been talking about for a long time now. I'm waiting for the validation and to get it in my hands. It's one step at a time."

He had been teammates with Iggie Brazdeikis in Zalgiris and schoolmates with Nigel Williams-Goss. Asked if he consulted with them before accepting Olympiacos' offer, he said: "Honestly, everything happened very quickly, so I hadn't had the time to talk with them about the situation. However, I had spoken with Brazdeikis when we met in Cyprus and he had the first point of contact with Olympiacos for him to join the team, and I also spoke with Nigel Williams-Goss when he signed with the team in the summer. Both were extremely happy and when they came here, they only had wonderful things to say about the team, so all these made everything easier for me".

Finally, about whether he thinks this year's final four a very tough goal to achieve, he replied: "No. When you play for this organization and with the amount of talent we have, the goal should be the F4. But, it's also everyone's goal. Noone is playing for mediocrity. We play to become champions, not to flank the stats. I think it's a realistic goal".
