Bartzokas: «Our team got a lot of support from the fans»

Following the win over Promitheas, Giorgos Bartzokas pointed out the atmosphere and the warm support the received from the Olympiacos fans.

“First of all, I would like to talk about the atmosphere. It was a very pleasant Saturday atmosphere for our team. They received a lot of support from the fans that were here and we thank them for that. All in all, we were very serious with our game, being aware that Promitheas has had the same winning record with us up to that time and that they have had a very good presence in the Basket League, especially offense wise. They score a lot in their games. On one hand, we wanted to maintain strength, so that everyone would be playing for about 20 minutes, with the exception of Fall, who unfortunately played for 28 and on the other hand, we wanted to win the game. We did it. Congrats to Promitheas. I wish them all the best. Now, we have a double game Euroleague week ahead and we have to focus on the first game in Belgrade, against Maccabi”.

On his part, the guests coach, Ilias Papatheodou, pointed out the following: “Congratulations to Olympiacos for the win, they were better. With the exception of the first quarter, our team was not competitive. We lacked focus in crucial parts of the game. At the same time, the score difference was too big. I mean that Olympiacos’ physicality forced us to lose too many defensive rebounds when Olympiacos was missing their shots, resulting in abolishing any chance to remain competitive in the second quarter. All the more, Olympiacos’ pressure led us to bad decisions and choices throughout the majority of the game and that’s why Olympiacos’ got a fair win”.
