Promitheas’ submission

Olympiacos did what was needed, beating Promitheras at the SEF 89-77 for the 18th day of the Bakset League and remains the only undefeated team of the Greek League.

The ‘red & whites’ came in eager to play the game. With good defense, excellent ball movement and Vazenkov, Fall and Canaan leading the offence, they got to build a +15 lead (22-7) at 7’. Giorgos Bartzokas ‘shuffled’ the deck – aiming to preserve freshness in view of the away game against Zalgiris – however, the outlook of the game did not change. Despite the effort the guests made to close in (35-27 at 17’), Olympiacos continued betting on their defense and closed the first half at +12 (42-30).

With a bucket by Walkup, our team went to +14 (51-37 at 14’), but then nothing seemed to be working. Insufficient ball movement, bad shooting percentages and defensive gaps allowed Promitheas to strike from the three point line and close in at 3p. (57-54) at 29’. Olympiacos put more pressure when defending, found solutions with Peters, Laretzakis and McKissic and put a 17p. distance between the two teams (88-71 at 39’), hence ‘finishing’ the game.

  • Tarik Black and Kostas Sloukas (injury) were out for today’s game.

The quarters: 26-17, 42-30, 59-54, 89-77.
