Saved by Walkup!

With a bucket by Thomas Walkup - about 2'' before the buzzer - Olympiacos beat Peristeri's strong resistance, got an 87-86 win and remained undefeated in the Basket League, following the completion of its 13th day.

Playing a good defensive game and with Kostas Papanikolaou and Isaiah Canaan leading the offence, the 'red & whites' got to lead by 9 (9-18) at 5'. However, unforced turnovers and bad decisions when attacking, allowed the hosts to 'strike' under the rim and close in to two points with Bilan (20-22) by the end of the 1st quarter.

Giorgos Bartzokas changed the line up, but the offensive problem caused by Peristeri's tight defense was not dealt with. On the contrary... Olympiacos lost the battle for the rebounds, continued committing turnovers, could not find a solution to guard Bilan and hence found themselves trailing by 7 (44-37 at 19'). Finally, with Michalis Lountzis taking the lead on both ends of the floor, Olympiacos replied with a 5-0 streak and closed in to 2p. (44-42) at 20'.

After Papanikolaou and Canaan returned on the floor, the 'red & whites' found offensive solutions and at the same time, thanks to a very good job by Fall in both posts, they succeeded in imposing the tempo and building a +8 lead (53-61) at 28'. However, Peristeri did not give up the fight... They played even more pressing defense, took advantage of the 'red & whites' poor shooting percentages and their turnovers and made a one point game (62-63) by the end of the 3rd quarter.

The game became a derby (71-71 at 35'), with Olympiacos taking a 7p. lead (73-80) at 37', mainly thanks to Tarik Black. Peristeri though came back for yet another time... They struck from the three point line and got in the driver's seat (81-80), 1:36'' before the end. Our team regained the lead with a three by Larentzakis (84-85), Francisco (the big protagonist for Peristeri in the last minutes of the game) made the score 86-85 with 14.4'' on the clock, while the epilogue was written by Walkup with a shot under pressure.

The quarters: 20-22, 44-42, 62-63, 86-87.
