"Νεόφυτος Χανδριώτης": Ολυμπιακός - Χολόν 88-77

Olympiacos bested Holon Hapoel 88-77 in the “Neofytos Chandriotis” International Tournament premiere.

The ‘red & white’ made an impressive start in the game. With good defense and Thomas Walkup leading the offense, they got to lead by 11p. (13-2) at 3’. Our team consistently maintained control up until 12’ (25-14), however, many off target long shots and unforced turnovers allowed Holon to gradually ‘nibble’ away at the margin and tie the score 36-36.

In the 3rd quarter, our team regained control (48-40 at 22’) and despite its shortcomings in the defense, managed to maintain control up until 30’ (65-59). Unforced mistakes and bad offensive choices allowed Holon to get ahead for the first time in the game running a partial 8-0 (65-67 at 33’). Putting Moustapha Fall on the floor changed everything on both ends of the court.

The French center dominated the post, McKissic and Larentzakis found target from the perimeter and Olympiacos gained a +10 lead (77-67 at 36’). The Israelis tried to return to the game with threes, however, Sasha Vezenkov made his presence known and led Olympiacos to comfortable win.
