A win over Apollon and now the focus is on Bayern

Olympiacos bested Apollon at the SEF 98-78 for the 10th day of the Stoiximan Basket League and is now solely focusing on the home game against Bayern on Wednesday (15/12, 20.00 CET).

The ‘reds’ made a strong start, put pressure in defense and with Hassan Martin, Sasha Vezenkov and Kostas Papanikolaou leading the offense, they got to impose the tempo from the minute one (26-13 at 10’). Olympiacos, that dominated both ends of the floor, was able to take the difference to 20p., mainly relying on perimeter percentages (28-28 at 17’).

Apollon, who up to that point was mainly scoring from the free throw line (13/16 free throws against 3/5 for the ‘reds’), struck from 6.75m. line and closed in at 12p. (50-38), however, Bartzokas’ players maintained complete control (51-38 at 20’).

Leaning on Giorgos Printezis, Olympiacos once again widened the margin, however, the Patras team, mainly thanks to Tsalbouris’ success from the three point line, closed in to 11p. (69-58). Shaquielle McKissic took over at that point and order was immediately restored (76-58 at 29’). In the last quarter – and despite a solid effort by the guests (89-78 at 38’) – the ‘reds’ although never reaching high performance levels, absolutely controlled the game and got a comfortable victory.
