First loss at the SEF

Olympiacos sufferes his first loss at the SEF, losing to Panathinaikos 74-81 for the 8th day of the Stoiximan Basket League.

The ‘reds’ made a strong beginning on both ends of the floor and were leading 10-3 at 4’. The guests however pushed with their defense, led Bartzokas’ players to poor offensive choices, found target from the perimeter and got ahead 15-14 (at 10’).

With Livio Jean-Charles doing a good job in the post, Olympiacos regained control and got in the driver’s seat (27-21 at 15’). Panathinaikos nevertheless replied with a partial 4-15 and came ahead 36-31. The 33-36 score that closed the first half was made with two for two free throws by Shaquielle McKissic.

The ‘reds’ majorly improved their defense in the 3rd quarter, had good ball movement and with Moustapha Fall leading the offense, they got to build a +14 margin (59-45) at 29’. The ‘greens’ closed in at 5p. (61-55 at 32’), with a partial 10-2, however, Fall’s return on the floor temporarily restored order (67-55 at 34’).

Hasty choices, defensive gaps combined with Panathinaikos’ good perimeter percentages, allowed the guests the upset putting them ahead in the score (69-70 at 37’). From that point on, they consistently kept leading with Nedovic and Sant Roos finding target from the three point line in the crucial last two minutes.
