Poor shooting and turnovers took a toll…

Olympiacos did not play well against Bayern Munich and was defeated 77-60.

The game began in an impressive fashion for our team with the 'Thrylos' players playing superbly in defense and the first quarter ending 12-8.

However, poor shooting and the nerve wrecking good shooting percentages of the Germans later in the game allowed Bayern to take the lead with 24-33 at half time.

The difference was close to 30 points in the third quarter that ended 37-60 for the team lead by Svetislav Pesic. The Piraeus players continued shooting very poorly, nothing was working on either end of the floor and eventually the defeat was inevitable.

The quarters: 12-8, 24-33, 37-60, 60-77.
Olympiacos (Sfairopoulos): Young 9 (9 reb.), Papapetrou 11 (3), Strawberry 8 (1), Tsairelis 5, Toliopoulos 2, Agravanis 10 (3), Mantzaris, Kavvadas 2, Kalampokis, Lojeski 3 (1), Athinaiou 9 (1).
Bayern Munich (Pesic): Rivers 6 (2), Thompson 15 (1), Seiferth 6, Renfroe 1, Zipser 5, Savanovic 21 (3), Gavel, 5, Mayr, Taylor 11 (2), Bryant 7 (1).

GIANNIS SFAIROPOULOS: Congratulations to Bayern Munich, they deserved to win, they played better. We did not play good in defense, except for the beginning. The more the time was passing, the more our defense was getting weaker, we allowed easy points, we allowed easy shots, inside and outside the perimeter. They built their psychology and then a big margin. It was a good lesson for us. We'll learn from this mistake, I'm certain. We have to improve and play better. For sure we were lacking energy since we also played last night, but this is no excuse by any means. We have a big roster and there are no excuses for us. Olympiacos' goal is to make it to the end in all three competitions. This is what we want to do this season as well.

* Matt Lojeski received a blow to the lower back during the first half and Giannis Sfairopoulos decided to protect him during the second half of the game and that's why he decided against using him.
