Olympiacos was exquisite in Kavala and besting the local team 87-55 qualified for the Greek Cup Final for the sixth time in a row.

The Giorgos Bartzokas’ players were very serious and focused from the beginning and the score was 23-6 in their favor at 10’. The Greek coach kept rotating his players, without however for the tempo to get hampered. The “reds” were leading by 29 at half time (48-19) and it was somewhere there that the game came to an end.

Giorgos Bartzokas gave minutes to all his players and made various tests in view of the game against Caja Laboral. The European and Greek Champions had, apart from substance, some serious how to deliver and received applause from about 1,000 fans that watched the game at the Kalamitsa gym. Olympiacos was leading 65 – 36 at 30’ and the semi-final was concluded at 87-55.

GIORGOS BARTZOKAS : “We played up to our standards for quite some time in the game and this is obvious from the difference in rebounds and assists. Maybe the fact that we were leading by 30 from the first half did not motivate enough for the second half, Kavala used some young guys that have the future to themselves and the balance kind of shifted. There is not much to tell about the game, IwouldliketowishgoodlucktoKavala”.

About Caja Laboral: “Caja Laboral has changed the coach and it’s a month now that they have a different psychology and we are called to beat three times the second team of the ACB. This is not easy and everyone should understand as much. TheEuroleagueisstartingfromgroundzero”.

DIMITRIS MAVROEIDIS: “Today we were playing a semi-final, we don’t underestimate any adversary and that’s what we did here as well. We started out strong and did not leave any room for Kavala. We made some mistakes, but I think that in general we have been really focused and offered a good show for the people that came to watch the game”.

ANGELOS KORONIOS : “I don’t want to say anything about the game, because the difference between the two teams is huge. What I would like to say is that our team, following holidays and the addition of two players, has to regroup, stay together and work really hard, because the situation is anything but easy for us and the two victories we succeeded against KAOD and Peristeri mean nothing. Acare is ours and will be joining us after Christmas; now we are looking to get one more center”.

DIMITRIS KALAMPAKAS: “Congratulations to Olympiacos. They played the game exactly the way they had wanted to. We came to the gym to get the best we could, but we weren’t able to play our game. We are looking ahead to a very important game against Kolossos with the beginning of the new year”.

* Acie Law was ill and did not play. The American guard was not included in the delegation and was replaced by Dimitris Katsivelis, who came to Kavala Saturday morning.
