Olympiacos won its first game for the 2013-14 season in the Patras Cup premiere against Montegranaro. The European Champions bested the Italian team 88-74.

Giorgos Bartzokas’ team succeeded in building a solid difference at the beginning of the encounter, but Montegranaro managed to come back and take a 21-20 lead at the end of the first quarter hitting successive threes.

Olympiacos was excellent in defense for seven minutes in the second quarter and kept the Italians at low scoring levels thus gaining once again the lead. However, some lucky threes of the Montegranaro players closed the difference at 45-41 at the end of the first half.

Olympiacos was even better in the third quarter, offense was working well, defense got better and the Champions of Europe led 67-60.

In the last quarter, the reds not only maintained the score in their favor, but also succeeded in broadening the difference reaching the final 88-74.
