An easy afternoon against Promitheas
Olympiacos defeated Promitheas 102–87, with the game being their 17th won for the Stoiximan GBL, hence remaining first and undefeated in the League.
Alec Peters (24 points with 5 three-pointers) and Homer Netzipoglou (14 points and seven assists) were the top performers for the 'red & whites', while Giorgos Bartzokas’ team shattered the club’s all-time assists record, handing out a total of 40, with Thomas Walkup accounting for 14 of them.
Giorgos Bartzokas opened the game with Walkup, Dorsey, Ward, Peters and Hall, and the American center was dominant from the opening tip. Hall scored 13 points in the first quarter, going a perfect 5/5 on 2-pointers, and together with Alec Peters, who was deadly from the perimeter, they were Olympiacos’ leading scorers in the opening 10'. Thomas Walkup dished out 7 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds in 9 minutes and, even without taking a single shot, was among Olympiacos’ standouts as they built a 19-point lead very early in the game (32–13).
In the second quarter, Homer Netzipoglou made his presence known with 12 points and 4 assists, while Tyrik Jones, who replaced Hall, kept up the same standards, scoring 10 points by halftime. For Promitheas, Harris hit 3 consecutive threes to briefly cut the deficit to 11 (35–24). However, Bartzokas’ team quickly found its rhythm again and, with 23 assists to just 3 turnovers, went into halftime up by 19 (57–38).
After the break, Olympiacos slowed the pace slightly and Promitheas, led by Bazinas, reduced the margin to single digits. Once again, though, Bartzokas’ side relied on its excellent ball movement to push the lead back above 20. Alec Peters reached 24 points with 5/7 from beyond the arc, while Tyler Dorsey also found his scoring touch.
Giorgos Bartzokas had the chance to spread the minutes among all available players and also used Giorgos Bourneles, who got on the scoresheet as well. Omiros Netzipoglou capped off his best performance in the red & white, finishing with 14 points and 7 assists.
Olympiacos eased off in the final quarter, but that didn’t stop them from surpassing the 100-point mark, while totaling 40 assists.
The quarters: 32–13, 57–38, 83–62, 102–87.
