A win over Zalgiris at the SEF
Olympiacos defeated Zalgiris 95–78, earning their third consecutive victory in the EuroLeague and reaching 7 wins in 10 games.
Our team had Tyler Dorsey in outstanding form, as he finished the game with 30 points, dominating from the opening tip to the final buzzer. However, the game was overshadowed by the injury of Keenan Evans, who left the court supported by teammates in the first quarter and immediately went for medical examinations.
Before the start of the game, our club presidents, Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos, honored Nigel Williams-Goss and Moses Wright for their contribution to Olympiacos, and right after that, the action began.
Giorgos Bartzokas started the game with Walkup, Dorsey, Fournier, Vezenkov, and Milutinov, and the second showed he continues to be in great form, scoring the first 9 points for Olympiacos and 12 total in the first quarter. Nikola Milutinov was again dominant early on, with 7 points and 4 rebounds by the end of the quarter.
The first period ended with a double-score (28–14), but the atmosphere at the Peace and Friendship Stadium “froze” 15 seconds before the buzzer. Keenan Evans, in an unfortunate and unexpected moment, went down injured, just days after his return to action and his official debut with Olympiacos, and had to leave the court supported by teammates.
The 'red & whites' quickly recovered from the shock in the second quarter. Despite the good collaboration between Francisco and Wright, Olympiacos, led by Vezenkov (8 points) and Lee (7 points) in the period, closed the first half with a 14-point lead (50–36).
In the second half, it was Thomas Walkup’s time to shine. The team’s playmaker took over from Dorsey and Vezenkov, who scored the first five points, before adding five of his own. With Vezenkov and Milutinov continuing to lead, Olympiacos played excellently and quickly pushed the lead above 20 points (69–44 at 25:19).
The third quarter ended with Olympiacos maintaining full control. Milutinov was outstanding on both ends (16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists by the end of the period), and the team entered the final quarter up by 21 points (74–53).
In the fourth quarter, Dorsey kept his scoring show going and, with a 3-pointer plus a foul 4:19 before the end, reached 30 points for the game. The game ultimately ended with a 17-point victory (95–78), marking Olympiacos’ third consecutive EuroLeague win.
Next game: Friday, November 14, against Armani Milano in Italy.
The quarters: 28–14, 50–36, 74–53, 95–78.
