Olympiacos 'sweeps' through Munich!

With 3,000 of their fans by their side, Olympiacos defeated Bayern Munich 96 - 71 in Munich, as part of Round 6 of the EuroLeague.

With intense defense, patience in ball movement, and Tyler Dorsey leading the offense, Olympiacos imposed their rhythm and closed the first quarter up by eight (15 - 23). But they didn’t stop there… Giorgos Bartzokas’ players continued to excel defensively, found their range from the perimeter thanks to Peters, Ntilikina, and McKissic, and extended their lead to 19 points (19 - 38 in the 16th minute). The Germans tried to close the gap by answering in kind, even though they had been very inaccurate from the three-point line for most of the second quarter. Our team maintained control, and with a three-pointer from Thomas Walkup, went to the locker room at halftime with an 18-point lead (29 - 47).

With a 5 - 0 run (a 3-pointer from Ward and a 2-pointer from Walkup), the 'red & whites' went up by 23 for the first time (29 - 52 in the 22nd minute). However, consecutive turnovers and the hosts’ improved shooting from the distance allowed Bayern to cut the deficit (with a partial 13 - 4 run) to 14 points (42 - 56 in the 26th minute). Bartzokas’ players, however, kept relying on their defense and maintained full control (52 - 69 at 30’). The German team kept pressing and trying to stay in the game, but the closest they got was within 12 points (65 - 77 at 35’). At that point, Sasha Vezenkov returned to the court in great form and put an end to any hopes the Germans had for a comeback (67 - 93 at 39’). The game quickly took on a procedural character, and Olympiacos comfortably secured an important road win.

The quarters: 15–23, 29–47, 52–69, 71–96.
