An easy win against Peristeri

Olympiacos routed Peristeri 85-67 in the opponent's home court for the 19th day of the Basket League.

Our team made an impressive beginning. They played pressing defense, found score from the perimeter and with Alec Peters and Isaiah Canaan taking leading roles in the offense, got to build a +11 lead (7-18 at 6'). The 'red & whites' closed the first quarter maintaining that +11 (14-25), but Thomas Walkup's injury and a short period Shaquielle McKissic spent in the bench briefly changed the status. The former remained benched for the rest of the game, while the latter, during the mere 2:53'' he spent on the floor during the second quarter, got called his 3rd foul and a technical. During that time, Peristeri was playing some very aggressive defense and combined with excellent shooting percentages from the three-point line, they closed in to 3p. (33-36) at 16'. Michalis Lountzis however was able to fill in for Walkup and, along with Filip Petrusev, helped our team to regain control of the game (39-48 at 20').

A superb defensive game (Peristeri scoring only 9p. during that time was testament enough), Lountzis who was a perfect facilitator and Peters scoring any way he liked, allowed Olympiacos to dominate the third quarter and put more distance between the two teams (+22, 48-70 at 30'). Despite the game appearing to have been decided, our team refused to slow down... They continued with high-level defense, made some spectacular plays in offense and hence raised the difference margin to 28p. (50-78) at 35'.

  • The injured Giannoulis Larentzakis, Nigel Williams-Goss and Naz Mitrou-Long did not dress up for the line-up, along with Ignas Brazdeikis, Luke Sikma and Nikola Milutinov who are not eligible to play.

The quarters: 14-25, 39-48,  48-70, 67-85.
