Final 8: Aiming for the three-peat!

Olympiacos beat Promitehas 91-77 and tomorrow (18/02, 18:00 CET) will play against Panathinaikos for the Greek Cup title.

Relying on Thomas Walkup and Ignas Brazdeikis, the 'red & whites' got a 9p. lead (19-10) at 8'. The Patras team though pushed back in the back court, causing an offensive problem for our team, found score from the perimeter and finally succeeded to get ahead for the first time at 16' (29-30). Despite the fact that our team was struggling to find offensive rhythm, managed to regain the lead and closed the first half leading by 4 (40-36).

Up until 13', Promitheas was looking Olympiacos in the eyes (47-44). But it was somewhere at that point that Bartzokas' players decided to speed up. They played pressing defense, ran the fast-break, found score from the perimeter with Alec Peters and running a partial 23-6 sent the difference to 17p. (67-50) at 29'. The 'red & whites' maintained absolute control of the game (81-66 at 34') and despite Promitheas closing in to 10p. (85-75), got the win without at any point been really threatened.

  • Nigel Williams-Goss was not in the bench due to injury.

The quarters: 23-15, 40-36, 70-55, 91-77.
