A win, despite having a rough time

Olympiacos bested Amaroussio at the SEF 93-87 and is now solely focusing on the Greek Cup Final 8.

The guests began with great energy and led by 5 (7-12) at 5'. The 'red & whites' found solutions with Moses Wright, but 'paid' for their mistakes and defense lapses and they were not able to close the first quarter in the lead (19-20). Actually, the guests put even more pressure on the Piraeus team afterward, won the rebounds and increased their distance to 7p. (22-29). Nigel Williams-Goss took it upon himself to lead Olympiacos back into the game, and gave an offensive recital, writing the 33-33 score. Then, it was the turn of Naz Mitrou-Long, who had Moustapha Fall and Giannoulis Larentzakis coming to his aid and subsequently helped our team build a +6 lead (46-40) at 20'.

The 'red & whites' completely controlled the 3rd quarter (60-48 at 25'), while after Goss returned to the floor - who continued offering an offensive show - got a +16 margin for the first time in the game (72-56 at 29'). But it was somewhere there, that our team inexcusably slowed down. The guests played some pressing defense, leading the 'red & whites' to turnovers, found score from the perimeter, and running a partial 18-4 got to lead 76-77 at 35'. Petrusevn and Larentzakis were the ones to turn the situation around for Olympiacos, once again building a double-digit margin (91-81) at 39', while Maroussis got to shape the final 93-87 with two back-to-back threes.

  • Isaiah Canaan was not on the game's roster.

The quarters: 19-20, 46-40, 72-59, 93-87.
