Won 3rd place
Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos (97–93) in the Euroleague Final Four 3rd-place game and finished 3rd.
With Alec Peters, Evan Fournier, and Sasha Vezenkov scoring early, our team opened the game with a 7-0 run (2'). The Bulgarian forward struck from beyond the arc to make it 12-4 (4'), and soon after 15-8, with the American following his lead (20-10, 6'). Olympiacos controlled the game, going on a 14-4 run led by Vezenkov and Peters (29-14). Moses Wright joined the offensive effort, and the first quarter ended 33-20.
Alec Peters continued to hit shots from the perimeter, making it 36-23 at the start of the second quarter, during which our team used an extended rotation. A lapse in focus and several mistakes allowed Panathinaikos a 9-0 run (36-32), but our team regained composure and moved the ball well (setting a record for assists in a first half in the history of the competition), with Shaivon Lee and Moses Wright contributing offensively (42-35, 14'). The duo also starred in another 11-2 run, pushing the lead back to double digits (57-42), with the half ending at 57-46.
Panathinaikos opened the third quarter with a small run, but it was cut short by a basket and foul drawn by Alec Peters (60-50, 22'). The American forward continued to lead the offense, and Evan Fournier connected from beyond the arc for the 66-54 score. However, a series of turnovers and lapses led to a 10-0 run by Panathinaikos (67-62). That streak was halted by three-pointers from Alec Peters and Sasha Vezenkov, bringing the score to 75-64 to close the third quarter.
Our team continued to control the game, moving the ball patiently (81-69, 32'). Larentzakis hit from deep (89-74, 35'), as did Peters with a mid-range jumper (91-78, 37'). An unnecessary drop in focus in the final three minutes allowed a 6-15 run by Panathinaikos (97-93), but the game ended with a steal by Sasha Vezenkov on the final possession.
