On January 3, 2014, Olympiacos BC addressed a letter to the Central Refereeing Committee, with notification to the President of the Hellenic Basketball Federation Mr. Giorgos Vassilakopoulos impeaching the referees of the semi-final game for the Greek Cup against Panathinaikos in OAKA.

Olympiacos denounced their complete indifference to the delinquent behavior of the Panathinaikos fans who threw photo glares and crackers towards the bench of our team 27,6’’ before the end of the game endangering the safety of the athletes and the rest of the members of the Olympiacos delegation.

Olympiacos impeached that the referees not only failed to abide by the Special Disciplinary Code of HEBA (article 20) that stipulated the cessation of the game but also failed to report the incident on the game report which would have resulted in the imposing of a penalty against Panathinaikos by the Sports Judge.

For all the above, Olympiacos has asked for the said referees to be investigated and penalized, while at the same time demanded that measures be taken to insure the greatest possible efficiency of refereeing in games of the utmost importance such as the upcoming League games between the two teams, in order for the validity and egalitarianism that the institutions require in regard to basketball.
