With Vangelis Angelou, Andreas Gatzoulis and Argyris Kambouris, it was the turn of Andreas Glyniadakis to visit the young athletes participating the first period of the 2nd Olympiacos Summer Basketball Camp.
During today’s scheduled meeting with the Club’s President Mr. Panagiotis Angelopoulos and the Vice President Mr. Giorgos Skindilias, we have discussed and analyzed both the circumstances currently shaping Greek basketball and Olympiacos during a period of financial crisis, as well as my built up strain in the last three years from my simultaneous involvement with the National Team of Serbia and Olympiacos. All the above result in my decision not to continue coaching the team of Olympiacos.
May 13, 2012 and even more, the second day of June of 2012 are two historical moments for Olympiacos and Greek basketball. For Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos though, they are all the more important for bringing along a huge vindication for the efforts they have been making in the last years.
This championship could not be lost and the name of Olympiacos was in scripted early on the valuable trophy. The “reds” came back to the top of the Greek Championship edging Panathinaikos in the fifth final 82-76, bringing joy to millions of their fans all over the world.
On Friday afternoon, on June 1, 2012 a meeting between the General Direction of the Attica Police and Olympiacos BC took place where the security measures in view of the OPAP BasketLeague 5th final were discussed.
Olympiacos BC announces that the tickets for the fifth final were sold out within two hours from beginning of sale both from the ticket offices of the Peace and Friendship Stadium as well as from the Official Olympiacos BC Store.
He played as the European Champion should have, played with a legendary passion, played with a heart and made 2-1. Olympiacos edged Panathinaikos 84-72 and is now one victory away from winning the Greek League.
It was the end of the '30s when the Olympiacos Basketball team was founded with players form the "Ionidio" School. Great personalities of Greek basketball wore the 'red' shirt, coaches wrote history, victories came and Olympiacos played a leading role inside and outside the Greek borders.
