One Team: The ‘reds’ win gold!

Olympiacos BC has won the gold medal for the OneTeam Best Program of 2020-21!

Two silver ones had preceded for the 2017-18 and 2019-20 season, however, just as the head of the program, Penny Jovanovic stressed, more valuable than medals and their color, are the life lessons we are taught from these kids, as well as the satisfaction that we contribute – for more or less – to the betterment of their daily lives.

“We are really excited to have won first place, however, what really satisfies us the most is that in the tenth consecutive season that we participate the One Team program, we continue to learn, to grow and mature together with the kids. Each practice is life lesson for all of us and we are happy that through our knowledge that comes from the frequent contact we have with our athletes, we can have a positive impact on their lives. Without any doubt, that is the greatest award we could be receiving!”

And finished saying: “Together with my immediate associate with the program, Nikos Kampouris, we would like to congratulate all the teams for the excellent effort they have put and their accomplishments during such difficult times”.

Zalgiris Kaunas won silver medal and Armani Milano the bronze one.

The actions of the ‘red’ One Team

The pandemic put a brake on almost all activities on the plane, but was not able to stop the ONE Team! Only during last season, 23 sessions took place (either physically or online), with our ambassadors, Kostas Papanikolalou and Sasha Vezenkov having a strong presence even through skype!

Many original initiatives were also launched last season.

Olympiacos BC, in collaboration with the OlympiacosBC Official Store brought the “social responsibility products” into circulation (cell phone and tablet stand in many different collectors designs), which are going to be contributing to covering the needs of kids and vulnerable groups that come from schools and foundations affiliated to the Social Responsibility Program of Olympiacos BC.

Also, in the framework of the “bwin Mondays Games against COVID» Coca Cola delivered relevant material to the “Evolution of Life Foundation” (with founding donor the Stavros Niarchos foundation).

A few words for the ‘reds’ program

Olympiacos has been participating the Euroleague Social Responsibility Program since its conception in 2012.

Through these years, the ‘reds’ have partnered with the Special Kindergarten and Elementary School for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired of Argyropouli during the 2012-13 season, with the Special Skills Professional Education Lab of St. Demetrius in the 2013-15 seasons and the Special Skills Professional Education Lab of Piraeus in the 2015-17 season.

During the next two seasons (2017-19), we worked together with the CENTER OF SPECIAL EDUCATION FOR SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS “Horizons”.

From the end of 2019 until today, our program has expanded with the girls from the “Evolution of Life Foundation” (with founding donor the Stavros Niarchos foundation) and the Special Schools with students from the branches of Piraeus and Perama.
