A flower in memory of the 21 victims of Gate 7 (Video – Pics)

SEF was gloomy tonight. The atmosphere was not joyful as usually for the team’s home games. It couldn’t be such on a day like this.

The two big banners in front of the bleachers used by Gate 7 at the team’s home games, with the 21 people that lost their lives on Feb. 8, 1981 and with the message “We will never forget you” were the ones gathering everyone’s attention.

There are moments when an image makes you numb. You stop thinking. Your eyes get wet. This was such a moment experienced by everyone in the SEF tonight who saw these two banners.
Just before the jumpball of the game immediately following the teams presentation, the players of both Olympiacos and PAOK went to the bleachers, where the 21 souls were looking down. Because these 21 souls were there tonight. They went together and left some flowers to the tribute placed there in memory of these people. The least they could do. But for these kids that are not with us anymore, but are still by Olympiacos’ side, this minimal tribute is definitely important.

A few minutes later, and following the presentation of the starting five teams, everyone in the Stadium stood up. A minute of silence and then…
