Bartzokas: "Together we are going to be playing at a high level "

Olympiacos left for Spain, where tomorrow (December 8, 19.00 CET), will be playing against Barcelona, for the postponed game of the 9th round of the Euroleague.

“It’s important for us that everyone is back and with us, however, I still think we need a little more time to get in better shape”, the ‘reds’ coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, commented.

“Barcelona is a team with incredible execution on both ends of the floor. Their ups and downs are common with every Euroleague team. The games are so many, that no team can be 100% consistent. Barcelona has great potential though. They have a very high ceiling and we need to play a very good game against them”.

Asked whether the only thing he keeps from the game against CSKA is the first good quarter, he made clear that: “I don’t like staying on the things that worked for me. We played a good quarter and I will decide to hold on to this and throw away the other three when we didn’t play well? That’s not how it goes. A group result includes a common axis effort. Everyone tries for the same goal and when we fail we need to offer a helping hand… I’m talking about the things that make teams great. We are in this direction in regard to that. We are a team and gradually, when we are going to be all together, we are going to be playing well and at a high level”.

«I’m thrilled to be back»

Following almost a month with no games (due to injury), Aaron Harrison is now again at the disposal of Giorgos Bartzokas. “I’m thrilled to be back and I want to help my team win. It’s going to be a difficult game. All games are hard. For us, this is the first time in a month that we are all going to be together. We had been playing very well, however, COVID hit us and I got injured. We have had some difficult moments, but sooner or later, we are going to recover. And we want this to start tomorrow”.
